Trapezoidal screw threads can only be used in thread locking because of their smaller helix lift angle, the greater friction between sliding screw and nut. For example, the screw nut of fixed ceiling fan, the joint of gas bottle and the fixed connection between parts in mechanical equipment, etc. Multi-thread threads are simple sliding threads because of their larger thread lift angle. The friction force formed by screw and nut rotation is less used to transfer power and motion, such as jacks used to lift wheel repairs, bench pliers used to clamp workpieces for benchmarking and lathe screw used to process threads, etc.


The lead of multi-head screw and multi-thread thread is twice as large as that of trapezoidal screw, but the lead of self-locking can be reduced only when the lead of multi-head screw and multi-thread thread is larger than that of trapezoidal screw. Briefly speaking, the comprehensive force is the normal action perpendicular to the thread, which is decomposed into axes behind the thread surface.
