The main performance parameters of trapezoidal screw are axial load and rotational speed, and the relationship between them can be expressed by pressure-velocity curve. Because the trapezoidal lead rod uses sliding surface to support the load in operation, friction and heat generation will occur. In this process, wear and tear will also occur on the sliding surface. The pressure-velocity curve defines the safe operating limits of load and speed. When the load increases, the speed must be reduced to prevent overheating and wear. When the load is small, the rotation speed of the screw can be high, but when the load is large, the screw needs to run slowly.


It should be noted that the linear speed of the screw can be increased by increasing the lead of the screw without increasing the speed. It can prolong the service life of the screw rod. In order to determine the required specifications of trapezoidal screw system, it is important to know the torque required for driving load for the selection of sliding screw. As long as the efficiency of sliding screw is known, the required torque can be calculated. The larger the lead, the greater the required torque value, and the higher the efficiency of the screw rod.
